Bibbulmun Winter
If you don't know the Bibbulmun Track it is a world class walking trail. Continuously brushing up against nature rewards every mile. I've walked the Kalamunda end extensively and touched on other parts. I would like to walk end to end one day when I can find 6-8 weeks free. This poem is a bit of me finding my way and a bit of the trail showing me.
Bibbulmun Winter
My body is still recovering So I choose to hike A gentle section Of the track. The forest is still and quiet But my mind is seething. I have been working To free myself From the tyranny Of my thinking; From its endless stream of Shoulds, shouldn'ts Opinions and judgements. Out here on the track The winter afternoon light Filtered through cloud and canopy Shows them For the jealous, vindictive Petty kings they are And one by one they melt Like mist. By the time I return The light and the bush Have done their work And the quiet outside And the quiet inside Sing together.
