This poem didn’t go the way I thought it would. You will need a wide screen to appreciate it, if you are on mobile go landscape or wait until you get home to a full sized screen. I started off with the idea in the title, made a list intending to make it poetic but the poem had its own idea and it became a shape poem (technically the term is “concrete poem” but I don’t like it sounds like something that will sink and disappear without a trace!)

Advice For My Kids
Care for the minutes and the months and years will take care of themselves. Your happiness is your own responsibility and never anyone else's fault. Strike a balance between saving for tomorrow and living fully today. Spend time every day appreciating music, flowers and friends. People and experiences are more important than things. Be bold, take action, the solution is in your hands. Look after people and let them look after you. Try to improve yourself a little each day. A job is a job, have a life as well. Don’t tolerate any abuse. Honour your word. Learn to cook. Be kind. Smile.
