Adler Square

I like to share where my pieces came from and what I was thinking when I wrote them. I have no clue for this one. I remember writing it, it arrived almost complete just needed tidying up. It is set in the same noir city you may have encountered before A Man A Loan A Gun and Banned.

Adler Square

I’m Tony Tanaka 
And I like a clean kill.
I like to study my target
Find an approach
That leaves them dead
And me clean.
Occasionally a client wants
A lot of noise and mess;
I usually leave those jobs 
For someone else.
This time the buyer
Was offering more 
Than I wanted to turn down
So I took the job.
Which is why
Me and four hired guns
Are at Adler Square
Armed for elephant.
Of course they don’t know 
Who I am,
Or even who hired them.
It was me.
I can make noise 
On my own
But it’s hard to walk away.
The target drives in
I wait for the hired guns to start firing
And then I shoot the guy between the eyes.
12.3 seconds later it is all over
Well maybe it was 12.4
Who’s counting.
